Sista in Tokyo

Lately, everyone has been asking us when we're leaving Japan for good.  The plan still hasn't changed :), we're leaving before Baby K is school-aged... probably. Next stop, Hawaii or wherever the Lord leads us.

I realized I rarely share with you the things I love about Japan anymore.  Living here has become so regular and normal that I hardly ever feel motivated to share stuff with my folks back home anymore.  I'm going to change that by regularly sharing things with you that I like or find interesting here. 

On the flip side, when I am back in the US, I am more likely to snap a photo of something of something to share with others when I return to Japan.  Funny.

Anyway, I stumbled across a video that just tickles me for a few reasons. 

1.  It's so cute.  It's just makes me say 'kawaiiiii' in my most authentic high-pitched Japanese voice!

2.  It's so weird.  But, weird things kind of make sense here in a weird sorta way.

3.  It's so Japan.  I say that because it's one of those songs that you'll hear in a convenience store, on a shopping trip, or if you're lucky, at karaoke with friends.

4.  I want an ichigo (strawberry) hat for Baby K, she would look so cute in that!

Now that I've hyped it up, have a looksy :).

 

Beautiful Sun-Shiney Saturday Morning... Sickness

It's a beautiful sun-shiney Saturday morning here in Tokyo!  I love sun-shiney mornings! Tokyo has fantastic weather 80% of the time.  A lot to get done today, so I need to get a move on.

Guess who's visiting again! My good ole' friend morning sickness and his sidekicks super-duper smelling ability and nausea.  Yep, their back, only not as cruel as before.  But their back.  I had no idea they would return!  What a surprise :)

I've intentionally not blogged about my morning sickness in the first trimester in great detail because reliving the experience was simply too much for me.  (Yes, I know it sounds so dramatic but ummmm......  that was such a serious moment in my life people!) Ever since I first met "all day sickness" (for me, it wasn't morning sickness, it was all freakin' day!) back in April I've been a changed woman.  I hate the following smells:

• garlic
• onions
• olive oil
• coffee
• burning wood
• just plain wood (any wood)
• overripe strawberies
• overripe bananas
• strong miso
• Chloe perfume!!!!
• coffee (yes, it's on the list twice for emphasis) Sweet smelling coffee is okay-- but the strong coffee used in expresso OMG noooooo!!!
• car exhaust (I hate air pollution in Tokyo!)

I Want to Ride My Bicycle, I Want to Ride My Bike... Let the Nesting Begin!

"Biiiicycle, biiiiicycle."  If you don't know this song, do yourself a favor and listen to it below:).  G and I occassionally break out into this song at random times.  Yeah, strange couple thing-- I'm sure you have these too.

This morning I woke up around 5:00AM, pretty normal time as of late and decided to take a walk around the neigborhood since I am no longer riding my bicycle.  Why's that?  Well, I'm now 33 weeks and I've become quite clumsy.  So, I'm no longer comfortable riding my bike with confidence that I won't fall, or brake in time.  G co-signs on this and has become super-duper protective of his girls :), it's so cute. 

He helps me up when I'm sitting on the train, he insists that I take his hand or handrail when I'm going up or down stairs.  And...  He helps me tie my shoes when I refuse to wear slip-ons and opt for more fashionable tie-ups.

Anyway, looking forward to riding my biiiiiicylce again when the baby has arrived!  Not much longer to go!

Oh Yeah, today, I'm going in.  I'm venturing into the room, I'm opening boxes and packages and guess what else, I'm pre-washing all of my little angels clothes.  Yep, let the nesting begin!

 

Tokyo Pie & Teriyaki Boyz

Guess who's back :).  Hi Everyone!

Thank you for all of the supportive and lovely e-mails!!!  If you've e-mailed me over the past few months, and I haven't responded yet my apologies.  Since relocating from Sendai, my life has been extremely busy with my new job trying to carve out a piece of what I like to call my Tokyo pie.

Hope you like the new look-- wanted to give it a more colorful, fun and happy feeling.  I've added a new feature to Sista in Tokyo which can be found in the top right column labeled-- Tokyo Twitter.  This shiny pink box contains text updates from me throughout the week.

It's taken a lot of time to update the Sista in Tokyo design and I am far from being finished.  But at the moment I am hungry and just finished downloading the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy.  So I must leave you to admiring the new look an wondering how long it will be until the next post.  (Not long, I promise).
