Sometimes you need to laugh.  :) Seriously, sometimes you just need to have a stomach-aching-can't stop-laughing- moment that both hurts so good and feels so good at the same time.  I've noticed that working in Tokyo, my 'big laugh' frequency has decreased considerably.  Not good.  I'm a really happy person (unless I'm hungry), and laughing is important.

The Comments are Out of Control

Over the last two weeks, the comment section has become extremely irritating. Last week was the first time I had to delete or edit someone's comment.  This is ridiculous.

I don't want my site associated with any racist search listings.  So, I ask that if you feel the need to let others know how racist someone or some group of people are-- please begin your own blog and write as much as you like.  Do NOT use Sista in Tokyo for such matters.

Okay... I just asked a Simple Question

I believe in God.  I believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and that is through his blood that I am saved.  I am a Christian.  I haven't always been.  As a matter of fact, after completing an introductory Philosophy class in college, I stopped believing in God.  I allowed myself faith in God to be challenged and I was uprooted from my belief-- only to be re-potted a year later (sigh)  Thank you.

I don't feel others are wrong for not believing as I do.  But can a sista ask a simple question without someone getting all worked up about why they resent Christains and churchgoes?  I mean Sheesh!

I joined the gym--Now, I MUST get my money's worth!

Once upon a time, I considered myself athletic.  As you may have read earlier, I played a lot of sports during my school days, afterwards spent a little time in the military (the best shape I've ever been in!).  Since those days, my activity level has slowed a little. These days, I spend most of my time sitting behind a desk.

I'm pretty conscious of my money.  And up until now, I have never considered paying to join a gym or athletic activity (where I come from most of it's free or really cheap).

But living and working in Tokyo is different...

My first two years of college were spent in Birmingham, Alabama at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).  Though my dream back then was to attend Emory University in Atlanta, I settled on UAB after completing my military training (Army National Guard vet).

Something you don't know about me-- I love to take pictures.  During my first trip to Japan, my wonderfully loving and supportive parents mailed  a surprise to me and it was a digital camera!  (Come to think of it, some of the best surprise gifts I've ever received have been while I've resided in Japan.  My ex-boyfriend sent me the cutest little pink i-Pod mini for my 25th birthday.)  Anyway, I don't share too many photos on Sista in Tokyo but I thought it was about that time to share a few pictures of what I've been up to as of late.  Sooooo, here we go.

So, I was just set straight by a loyal SiT reader about my blogging schedule (or lack thereof).  It was such a hilariously great comment that I was compelled to blog about it -- seriously.  Just in case you haven't read it, read it for yourself...

"This comment is unrelated to your article,which i like by the way. Rather, I have a complaint with your blog's schedule. A brotha doesn't want to be mean, but you NEED TO UPDATE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK! As a loyal reader(and I'm assuming the audience does too), I expect this. This business of letting 2-3 weeks, or even a month go by is discourteous to your readers.

Look, your articles don't have to provide profound insights all the time about life in Japan;for all I care, you could write about the toilet paper there, and I'd probably be satisfied.

Call this my ethics on blogging: when you start a blog,opening up chapters of your life to the world,the readers become very engrossed in what you have to say. Call it the human condition in wanting to project oneself(the reader) into your adventures;this happens when what you write about clicks with the audience. Ok, now the ethical part: unless you give prior notice about an extended absence from the blog, don't just disappear like it's all good, cause it isn't!

Thanks man!  Hahahahah!!  I love it when people are just blatantly honest like that.  I'm kind of like that myself.  So I really appreciate the305.

And, you know I actually feel the same way.  I like to read blogs that update regularly.  And yes, I do feel that it IS rude when bloggers don't maintain a regular schedule.  So, my sincerest apologies to all of you SiT readers.  Soooooo......  I'm going to try and challenge myself to update SiT regularly.
