I sincerely apologize for my actions on your blog, Swoopey. I still got ya back, though.

Second that emotion.

Sorry, should have stayed out of it.

Hmmm... I would imagine that heavily opinionated comments would be hard to avoid here. Reason being, the essence of your blog seems to be - You being a black girl in Japan and how you feel living here.

Mind you that is different from - You being a girl in Japan and how you feel about living here; and by the way you just so happen to be black.

See what I mean jellybean?

Getting more to my point. I think avoiding the "racist" search referrals will be a tough one. Mainly because bots are stupid. They crawl everything. :)

Romulus Burnett

Come on, Rick. There's a very big difference in being opinionated and insulting people you don't know. I'm pretty sure Swoopey is more than capable of handling the most opinionated of opinionators, namely my crazy ass, but insulting people, putting down people's religions and demonizing entire races of people is something no one should have to deal with.

This is Swoopey's blog and she has the right to accept or reject whatever the hell she wants. If she doesn't want somebody insulting and ridiculing anyone on her blog she has a right to do so. Hell, if she doesn't even want comments on her blog at ALL she has a right to do so. You go to some other blogs and people don't even allow comments, so appreciate that Swoopey put up with the foolishness and opted to just erase the bad comments instead of closing her comments altogether.

rick

I was trying to substitute "heavily opinionated" for the more blunt "racist and insulting".

But , you're right and that's exactly the point I was trying to get at. She's gonna have deal with the fact that her blog is a public one that all kinds of people come to visit. Moderation of her comments is inevitable. Writing about religion, race, sex and other "delicate" subjects brings a lot of different points of view to a table and friction between parties will no doubt start.

I'm not saying that deleting that racist comment is wrong. She can do whatever she wants. I'm saying that she, as a blogger posting for the general public, should get used moderating because these things happen.

Off topic:
I think the correct blogging ethic would be to make note when moderating comment. For example something that looks like this:
*edited by moderator*
would be nice for readers to know.

Just like where she deleted that remarkably witty last sentence laced with "dangerous" keywords :) from my previous comment

I think there should have an *edited by moderator* because she changed my post although I'm still responsible for what she changed it to.

rick

hehe. Erase this sentence: "But , you're right and that's exactly the point I was trying to get at." from my post, and it might make a little more sense. Ha. Sorry for the confusion.

Harvey

Blogging ethic? Or blogging ethnic?

Okay. Dumb joke.
